About the project

The project required a flexible and reliable power solution for a modular power plant in Yeovil, UK. It needed to be scalable, easy to maintain, and efficient, while meeting environmental and noise requirements. The system also had to allow for simplified transportation, installation, and future servicing without disrupting overall operations.

We delivered two containerized power modules, each powered by a Jenbacher engine with an output of 2.7 MW. The modular design enables easy customization, reduced footprint, and cost efficiency. It also allows individual modules to be isolated for maintenance or replacement, improving overall reliability and minimizing downtime.

The units run on natural gas, ensuring efficient power generation with lower emissions and reduced operating costs.

We designed and supplied containerized modules with a service-friendly layout and integrated safety features. The container floor is constructed from chequer plate and functions as an oil containment sump. For noise reduction, the interiors are lined with mineral wool insulation, a protective membrane, and perforated metal cladding.

The overall system dimensions, including exhaust and cooling systems, are 17,230 × 5,225 × 6,602 mm, with height defined by the exhaust. The modules are engineered to operate in ambient temperatures from -10°C to +30°C and comply with a noise level of 55 dB(A) at 10 meters.

Inside the Yeovil Modular Power Project

The Layout

External

Exhaust Gas Silencer

A free-standing silencer with integrated catalytic converter elements. The engine’s frequency band, the required target levels, and the possible pressure drop are considered to reduce sound emissions.

Dry Cooler

Specification designed V-shape Dry Cooler to meet the engine requirements, ambient temperature, and noise restrictions.

Access ladder to roof and railing

Steel ladder and railings to provide access and safety during maintenance work and checkups of auxiliary equipment.

Gas connection flance

Connection point to the plant’s gas line.
